Cheyanne Deopersaud was featured on NY1 to discuss the passage of a new transparency law for foster youth supportive housing placements. Her groundbreaking report on supportive housing helped inspire this reform, which was championed by Speaker Adrienne Adams and requires the city to publish disaggregated data on age and housing for young people aging out of foster care. With this data, advocates and policymakers can better analyze where youth are being placed, understand how these environments affect them, and push for the systemic changes needed to ensure safe, stable, and equitable housing.
