Alejandra Vázquez Baur & Chantal Hinds Write Piece for Gotham Gazette Calling for Policies to Better Support Vulnerable Students in New York City

Students in special populations need targeted supports and transformative change.

Next100 policy entrepreneurs Alejandra Vázquez Baur & Chantal Hinds wrote an op-ed for Gotham Gazette on how New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, and schools chancellor, David Banks, can leverage available resources to better support special student populations, including multilingual learners, students in the foster system and in temporary housing, and students with disabilities. Alejandra and Chantal write:

“With increased funding, the new city administration, working with the City Council, has a historic opportunity to invest in ambitious and equitable programs that focus on the unique needs of students from special populations, and ensure students’ access to fully participate and thrive in them.
