Statement from Next100
The acquittal of the Kenosha, Wisconsin, shooter is yet another—too frequent and too painful—reminder of our broken justice system.
The acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse is yet another—too frequent and too painful—reminder of our broken justice system. A man intentionally entered a community that was not his own, carrying a weapon designed for war, feeling he was above the law—because our system has told him that people like him are, in fact, above the law. He killed two people and wounded another. And yet our justice system allows such a thing to happen, with no accountability for people like the perpetrator. Today should be a reminder of that fact—a day in which we remember the victims of these senseless shootings, Anthony Huber, Joseph Rosenbaum, and Gaige Grosskreutz, and recommit to fight for a justice system that ensures such actions are no longer beyond reproach, but instead are held accountable.
