Chantal Hinds cited in report from Advocates for Children of New York

Chantal Hinds’ report about the importance of increasing education data transparency for students in the foster system in New York State was cited by Advocates for Children of New York in their report about the education outcomes for New York City students in the foster system.

A report by Advocates for Children of New York (AFC) titled Building on Potential: Next Steps to Improve Educational Outcomes for Students in Foster Care highlights the need for increased supports for students in the foster system including, but not limited to: staff training, improved communication between relevant individuals and government agencies, ensuring access to behavioral and mental health supports, and data transparency. AFC cited Chantal’s report, Why Data Matters for New York Students in the Foster System, which calls for increased data transparency at the state level for students in the foster system and noted that, “[s]hining a light on the inequities students in the foster system face is the first step toward developing solutions to address their unique needs.”
