Robert Godfried Quoted in Senate Press Release Calling on AmeriCorps to Create an Office of Alumni Engagement

Next100 policy entrepreneur Robert Godfried was quoted in a press release and provided feedback on a letter signed by a bipartisan group of United States’ senators calling on AmeriCorps to create an office of alumni engagement.

Next100 policy entrepreneur Robert Godfried was quoted in a press release for a letter signed by Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.), Co-Chair of the National Service Congressional Caucus, Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Senator Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Senator Dr. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), and Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), in support of the creation of an alumni engagement office at AmeriCorps. This office would help the agency and its partners find new ways to support current national service members, encourage alumni to sustain their commitment to service after leaving the program, and engage alumni to strengthen the recruitment of new members.

The press release includes a quote from Robert on the need for this office:

“An Office of Alumni Engagement is imperative to the future success of AmeriCorps. National service alumni are an untapped resource that can provide mentorship, support, and professional networks for current AmeriCorps members. In addition, increased alumni engagement can improve the program by contributing much-needed feedback to grantee organizations, state commissions, and the AmeriCorps federal agency.”
