Vidal Guzman Quoted in New York Focus

New York Focus spoke to Next100 policy entrepreneur Vidal Guzman about Governor Kathy Hochul's proposal to end the ban on private employment of incarcerated people.

New York Focus’s Lauren Gill wrote on New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposal to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn New York’s century-old ban on private employment of incarcerated people. To explore the current working conditions of incarcerated New Yorkers, she interviewed Next100 policy entrepreneur Vidal Guzman about his experience working when he was incarcerated, as well as his campaign to raise the minimum wage and improve labor conditions for incarcerated workers. Vidal says:

“It’s a very embarrassing moment when you’re looking at commissary and you’re dividing pennies to see how much you have.”
